After the greatest Texas Tech softball season in history, it looks like the Red Raiders might have the sort of talent necessary to have a ton of fun and success once again this season. The Red Raiders were just one win shy of bringing a national championship home to Lubbock in the first year of the Gerry Glasco era of Texas Tech softball.

Now the Red Raiders are aiming to make this season special and compete for a national championship once again.

If you start looking around at preseason college softball polls, it sure looks like Texas Tech has the potential to do just that once again. After all, the folks voting on the NFCA/GoRout Top 25 NCAA softball rankings believe the Red Raiders are the No. 2 team in the country.

Here’s how Texas Tech softball fans are reacting to the Red Raiders being ranked at No. 2 in the country in the preseason NFCA/GoRout Top 25 softball rankings:

Some folks were a little confused. Which, you know, is kinda fair. This particular Texas Tech softball team is overflowing with talent and it looks like the Red Raiders are primed to make another fantastic run once again this season, building off of all of the success from a year ago.

That said, it’s very important to remember that Texas Tech isn’t the only talented team out there. There are, of course, some really good teams that aren’t that far from Lubbock. Like the folks over in Austin, Texas for example. Or up in Norman, Oklahoma. Expect both of those teams to be loaded with talent and ready to win this season.

Others were seemingly fine with where the Red Raiders were ranked (though they probably would’ve been pretty happy to see Texas Tech ranked just one spot higher).

And then apparently at least one Tennessee softball fan thought the Lady Vols would get ranked at No. 1 (over the Texas Longhorns, the Red Raiders, and the Oklahoma Sooners for some reason).

Anyway, Texas Tech seems to be in a pretty good spot. The Red Raiders are going to be getting plenty of attention (and scrutiny) after how great last season was. And it’ll be fun to see if Texas Tech can make it back to Oklahoma City once again.
