Texas Tech fans should be pretty happy right now. To be completely honest, with the draw that the Red Raiders got for the 2026 NCAA softball tournament, the Lubbock Regional feels pretty navigable. Now, it’s not exactly going to be guaranteed smooth sailing. There should be excitement, but nothing at this point should be taken for granted.

With NiJaree Canady and Kaitlyn Terry leading the way for the Texas Tech softball team, the Red Raiders have the capability of shutting down just about everyone they see. That said, the Ole Miss Rebels might provide an interesting challenge for the Red Raiders in the 2026 NCAA softball tournament.

As Texas Tech tries to get back to the Women’s College World Series and prove that last year’s trip to the WCWS Finals wasn’t a fluke, the Red Raiders are going to have to get started by getting out of Lubbock. It’s doable. And Texas Tech fans certainly seem to feel that way.

Unsurprisingly, Texas Tech softball fans definitely have thoughts on what the Lubbock Regional looks like and Texas Tech’s seeding in the 2026 NCAA softball tournament.

Here’s what Texas Tech fans had to say:

Generally, Texas Tech fans seem thrilled. As they absolutely should be. The Red Raiders have earned their spot in the NCAA softball tournament.

But of course, there’s some folks who would like to see the Red Raiders with a better seeding. Which, you know, I can’t blame them for wanting that. The Red Raiders have been dominant throughout the entire season.

I think this is generally right. I suspect getting slotted as the 11 seed overall is going to help motivate a team that has been so good for so much of the season and really only has a handful of losses.

There’s a lot of other very strong opinions on the matter. A bunch of strong language. Folks would like to see the Red Raiders get the respect that they deserve. But right now, at this point, the only thing Texas Tech can do is to go out and prove that it should have received a higher seed.
