This season, the Texas Tech Red Raiders are playing some pretty impressive football. They’re not a perfect team by any stretch of the imagination, but their record is still unblemished and they’ve been absolutely crushing foes left and right through the first four weeks of the season.
That has led to a wide variety of projections as to where Texas Tech could end up once the regular season is done. Some believe they’ll make it to the Alamo Bowl, which would admittedly be a little disappointing to see happen given the amount of talent that Joey McGuire has on this roster.
And if you ask Steven Lassan over at Athlon Sports as to where the Red Raiders are headed in the postseason? Well, he’d tell you that Texas Tech will be heading to College Station and facing off against Mike Elko and the Texas A&M Aggies.
Athlon Sports College Football Playoff projection puts Texas Tech and Texas A&M in a first round matchup
Lassan has the Red Raiders as the No. 9 seed in the College Football Playoff and meeting up with the No. 8 seed Aggies to get things started in this year’s College Football Playoff. But that’s actually about as far as Lassan has the Red Raiders going.
He has Texas A&M advancing on after facing Texas Tech and then meeting up with the No. 1 seed Ohio State Buckeyes in the Rose Bowl. And of course, that’s as far as he has the Aggies going. From there, Lassan is projecting Ohio State to move on to the next round to face the Alabama Crimson Tide, who he also has losing to Ohio State.
Safe to say, Lassan believes in the Buckeyes’ ability to beat Texas A&M, Alabama, and move on to a national title matchup with the Oregon Ducks (which would actually be pretty fun to watch, to be completely honest).
