One of the greatest things about the Women’s College World Series (and also the Men’s College World Series) is that we get to see multiple days of high level competition. With this, we’re seeing some of the absolute best college softball teams in the country meeting up and facing each other on a nationally televised stage.
I, for one, greatly appreciate that and I, for one, think we should celebrate that.
Day 1 of the Women’s College World Series was a ton of fun and there was a surprising amount of great pitching that took place. We got to see the Texas Tech Red Raiders shutout the Ole Miss Rebels while the Texas Longhorns managed to shutout the Florida Gators.
Elsewhere, we also saw a couple of walkoff home runs to win games as the Oklahoma Sooners came back to beat the Tennessee Lady Vols and the UCLA Bruins broke a tie by launching a ball over the fence late at night to surge past the Oregon Ducks.
Day 1 was pretty great. What will Day 2 bring?
2025 Women’s College World Series schedule: Day 2
Here’s what today’s schedule looks like:
- Tennessee Lady Vols vs. Florida Gators: 6 p.m. CT - ESPN
- Ole Miss vs. Oregon: 8:30 p.m. CT - ESPN
Now, there is some level of “these times might be a bit approximate and things might change a bit depending on weather and how long the games take” and that sort of thing. It’s important to be a little flexible in life.
The next thing that we need to talk about here is that there just simply aren’t as many games happening on Day 2 as there are on Day 1, but that doesn’t mean these games don’t have some pretty important stakes for the teams involved.
After Texas Tech beat Ole Miss, UCLA beat Oregon, Oklahoma beat Tennessee, and Texas beat Florida, the losers from all of those four Day 1 games got moved into an elimination bracket.
And now we’re about to see a couple teams get sent home.
