A complete game performance from NiJaree Canady, a successful steal of home in the 5th inning, an impressive home run to retake a lead away from the UCLA Bruins. Game 8 of the 2025 Women’s College World Series went in Texas Tech’s favor and was a thrill for Texas Tech softball fans (and also just college softball fans in general) to watch.
And part of what made it so great was the fact that we got to see Texas Tech come out on top of a bonafide blue blood college softball program. The Red Raiders are certainly an upstart and, thanks to the investments and effort in improving their softball program, we’re getting to see TTU compete at the biggest stage in college softball.
And that rocks.
We are one win away from seeing the Texas Tech softball program java a chance to compete in a Women’s College World Series championship series. That’s all the Red Raiders need at this point. They’re so dang close.
But when will TTU play next? What does that look like right now?
Texas Tech softball schedule: When will the Red Raiders play next after beating the UCLA Bruins?
Given that the Red Raiders beat the Bruins and sent UCLA into the elimination bracket, Texas Tech now has a chance to take a break. The Red Raiders won’t have to play on Sunday. Instead, they get to breathe a little bit and rest up before getting back to action.
As a result, Gerry Glasco and his Red Raiders will play on Monday, June 2 in Game 13. The game is currently set to get started at 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN. As for which team the Red Raiders will face, that hasn’t been set yet.
It depends on whichever team wins in the elimination game between the Oregon Ducks (who survived and eliminated the Ole Miss Rebels) and the Oklahoma Sooners (who were beaten by the Texas Longhorns on Saturday). Whichever team wins there will play Texas Tech. Whichever team loses there will head home.
