Center

Starter: E.J. Holub

A two-way starter, Holub is one of the greatest Red Raiders in history and is the top center on the Texas Tech all-time two-deep roster. An all-American in 1959 and 1960, Holub is a 1986 inductee into the College Football Hall of Fame.

The graduate of Lubbock High School, Holub was nicknamed “The Beast” for his unrelenting physical play. The cowboy hat wearing, bow-legged west Texan is the personification of Texas Tech. Tough, scrappy and relentless Holub is embodied everything Texas Tech has been built on.

After college, Holub had a distinguished 10-year professional football career, most notably with the Kansas City Chiefs. A five-time American Football League all-star, Holub is a member of the Chief’s Hall of Fame.

Backup: Toby Cecil

Cecil was a 4-year starter during the first four years of the Mike Leach era. In that time, Cecil protected two of the most prolific quarterbacks in program history; Kliff Kingsbury and B.J. Symons. In all four of his seasons in college, Cecil received some form of all-Big 12 recognition.

Next: Right Guard - Louis Vasquez
