No. 15 – vs. Arkansas 1966
When Arkansas came to Lubbock in the last game of the 1966 season, the Razorbacks were 8-1 and had defeated six top-ten teams that season which makes the Red Raider’s 21-16 upset of the Razorbacks the 15th greatest game in Texas Tech history.
At 3-6 on the season, Texas Tech stood little chance of knocking off the mighty Razorbacks. But as we all know, odd things happen in Lubbock, Texas.
After falling behind 10-0, Texas Tech rattled off 21 unanswered points. Arkansas would manage six points in the fourth quarter but could not complete the comeback.
Texas Tech’s 21-point effort was impressive considering that the Arkansas defense had allowed at total of 45 points on the season. As 21-point underdogs, the Texas Tech Red Raiders pulled off one of the greatest upsets in program history.
