Tech and TCU have an odd series going right now.  That’s because the teams have alternated wins over the last five years with the road team winning all five.

This year, it is Tech’s year to be the visitor and if the Red Raiders can escape Fort Worth with another win, it could put 2020 on the path to success.  And given where this game falls on the schedule, this could almost be a must-win.

Coming one week after Oklahoma comes to Lubbock, this contest sits right before Tech hosts Baylor and travels to Oklahoma State.  In other words, this game is in between games against the preseason Big 12 favorites, last year’s Big 12 runner-up, and this year’s No. 2 team in the preseason poll.

As for the Frogs, they were picked No. 6 in the preseason poll.  But they have significant questions to answer in 2020.

Like KSU, TCU has huge questions along the o-line where they have to replace four starters.  That will be key as they look to protect sophomore QB Max Duggan, who had an up-and-down freshman campaign last fall.  What’s more, speedy WR Jalen Reagor is also gone after being a first-round draft pick of the Philadelphia Eagles.

On defense, Gary Patterson’s team has to replace its top DL and corner, Ross Blacklock and Jeff Gladney respectively.  In other words, not everything is set in Fort Worth.

But by the time Tech heads to Cowtown, Patterson and his squad may have found some answers. Still, Tech should expect to have a great shot at winning its third-straight game at Amon G. Carter Stadium and given the set of games to follow, doing so could be vital to 2020’s success.
