Texas Tech football: Three swing games on the 2020 schedule
vs. Baylor
After coming back from Fort Worth, Tech will turn around and take on Baylor in Lubbock. This is a game that could be the springboard to a strong finish to the year.
When the Bears come calling, they will be fresh off of a tough three-game stretch that sees them take on Texas, TCU, and Iowa State. Thus, they may be desperate when November 14 arrives. The same may be true of the Red Raiders following games against OU and TCU.

Of course, no one knows what to expect in Waco this year. Matt Rhule is off to the NFL and first-time head coach Dave Aranda is now in charge. Will he suffer from the dreaded transition-year letdown which Tech experienced in 2019 with Wells? Hopefully so.
Baylor will be tough again on offense with senior QB Charlie Brewer back for one more go-round. However, he was beaten up pretty badly last year as BU surrendered the most sacks in the Big 12 last year. Will he be able to survive another year of huge hits? If he doesn’t talented sophomore Jacob Zeno is waiting in the wings and Zeno may have more passing talent in his pinky finger than Brewer has in his entire right arm.
On the other side of the ball, Baylor has to replace its two best defensive players. All-American DL James Lynch and 2019 leading tackler Grayland Arnold both left Waco for the NFL a year early and their absences will be felt.
Of course, Tech will want to enact some revenge after being robbed of an OT win last year at McLane Stadium. If the Red Raiders can beat the Bears in the first meeting in this series at Jones Stadium since 2009, it could give this program the type of late-season boost that has been so tough to come by in recent years, especially with an off week to prepare for Oklahoma State and a home game against lowly Kansas still remaining on the schedule.
