The Texas Tech Red Raiders and the UCLA Bruins are getting set to meet in Game 8 of the 2025 Women’s College World Series. This is a pretty big deal for Texas Tech, which is in the midst of the most impressive season in the history of the Texas Tech softball program. As for the UCLA Bruins? Well, they’ve made it to Oklahoma City so many times it isn’t funny.
This game is a true matchup between an upstart program that is having a fun time and making some history and a college softball blue blood that is in the midst of a “business as usual” sort of season. That’s what we’ve got going for us this evening.

Here is everything you need to watch Texas Tech and UCLA face off (via the power of the internet, that is):
- Who: No. 12 seed Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. No. 9 seed UCLA Bruins
- When: Saturday, May 30 at 6 p.m. CT
- Live stream: Watch ESPN
I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to say that this is a phenomenal opportunity for Gerry Glasco and the Red Raiders to announce that they are serious about contending amongst the best teams in the country. This is a great chance for the Texas Tech softball team to show everyone that it truly belongs amongst the blue bloods.
This season is, historically, an anomaly for the Red Raiders. We don’t see TTU winning the Big 12 in years past. We don’t see the Red Raiders making it to a Super Regional, let alone through the Super Regional and into the Women’s College World Series.
And so far, Texas Tech hasn’t beaten a prominent blue blood program in OKC just yet. They took care of Ole Miss on Day 1, but the Rebels are just as much of an upstart program as the Red Raiders are. If Texas Tech can take care of business against UCLA, things will feel just a little different.
