Well, the Nebraska Cornhuskers are headed home. After losing in an elimination matchup with the Texas Longhorns, the Huskers will be going back to Lincoln. Their time in Oklahoma City and the 2026 Women’s College World Series is said and done. All over for them.

And that shakes up the Women’s College World Series bracket a little bit. Texas is advancing on to the WCWS semifinals and will have their shot at redemption (or revenge) against the Tennessee Lady Volunteers after losing on Day 1 to Tennessee.

As for Texas Tech, things haven’t changed too much for the Red Raiders, who are waiting for their upcoming matchup with the UCLA Bruins in an elimination game of their own.

2026 Women’s College World Series bracket update: Texas Longhorns survive matchup with Nebraska Cornhuskers

Here’s how the bottom half of the 2026 Women’s College World Series bracket breaks down now that the Huskers are headed home after losing to the Longhorns this afternoon:

  • Texas Tech Red Raiders: in Game 10 vs the UCLA Bruins (an elimination game) after the 2-1 loss vs Tennessee
  • UCLA Bruins: in Game 10 vs the Texas Tech Red Raiders (an elimination game) after beating Arkansas 11-0
  • Alabama Crimson Tide: waiting for the winner of the matchup between Texas Tech and UCLA

And with that, here’s how the top half of the Women’s College World Series bracket is shaping up following Texas’ win over Nebraska on Sunday:

  • Tennessee Lady Vols: in Game 11 vs the Texas Longhorns after the 2-1 win vs Texas Tech
  • Texas: in Game 13 (and on the brink of elimination) vs the Tennessee Lady Vols after the 3-1 win vs Nebraska

If Tennessee beats Texas in Game 11, it’s over for the Longhorns and the Lady Volunteers would advance on to the Women’s College World Series finals. Should Texas beat Tennessee, the Longhorns and the Lady Volunteers would play in a Game 12 matchup that would be an elimination game for both parties.
