We talked about it a bit earlier. There's a ton of Big 12 basketball action going on right now. On both the men’s and women’s sides of the sport. And in the first men's basketball game that the Big 12 had today, the Houston Cougars came out on top in such an impressive way.

Houston needed to end its three-game losing streak and the Cougars did just that in one of the most impressive ways possible. I mean, we’re talking about an emphatic snapping of a losing streak here. The Coogs showed up on Saturday and managed to win to the tune of 102-62.

It was incredible.

And it allowed the Coogs to showcase the immense amount of talent accumulated on their roster. Any team that can shoot 59.6 percent from the field and then 58.8 percent from three in a conference matchup is overwhelmingly talented.

With this win, Houston now moves to 12-4 in conference play and is now ahead of that logjam of teams that were tied for second place previously. The Cougars are holding on to the second place spot in the Big 12 standings. And we can go over those now.

  • West Virginia Mountaineers - 16-12 overall, 7-8 Big 12
  • Cincinnati Bearcats - 15-13 overall, 7-8 Big 12
  • Colorado Buffaloes - 16-13 overall, 6-10 Big 12

  • Kansas State Wildcats - 11-17 overall, 2-13 Big 12
  • Utah Utes - 10-18 overall, 2-13 Big 12

The loss didn’t really do anything to Colorado, their season has been pretty far from great for a while now. But this was a game that Houston had to win if they wanted to make things interesting in this conference. And that’s exactly what happened.
