For the first time ever, folks, we’ve got a chance to watch the Texas Tech Red Raiders compete in a college softball super regional. And if things go well during two of the next three games, then we’re talking even more history for Tech in what has been an absolutely phenomenal and historic Texas Tech softball season.
Gerry Glasco and his Texas Tech Red Raiders are rolling on over to Tallahassee Florida to take on the FSU softball team in the 2025 NCAA Softball Tournament. In this best-of-three matchup between Tech and FSU, two of the most exciting teams in the country are going to compete for a chance to make it to Oklahoma City and the 2025 Women’s College World Series.
FSU is obviously very familiar with what it takes to get to OKC, but this is a first ever sort of opportunity for the Red Raiders. That doesn’t mean it’s impossible, it just means it’s never happened before. And I, for one, would love to witness a little bit of college softball history.

This is a really interesting matchup for a number of reasons. Obviously there’s the whole thing about the two teams having incredibly similar records. That’s something that should be noted. Also, there’s the fact that both of these teams are riding a bit of momentum into this Super Regional.
Texas Tech made it through the Lubbock Regional without much of an issue from a foe until the second game against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. With that sweep, the Red Raiders have now won seven games in a row.
FSU, on the other hand, did lose a game in the Tallahassee Regional, but the Seminoles have won four of their last five matchups and easily made up for that 4-0 loss to Auburn by beating the Tigers 8-3. We’ve got the chance to witness a pretty fun matchup with these two teams.
