The Texas Tech Red Raiders don’t have too many commitments just yet for the 2027 recruiting class, but it sure looks like Joey McGuire and his coaching staff are making every commitment count. With the addition of four-star linebacker Jhadyn Nelson out of Houston, Texas, the 2027 Texas Tech recruiting class now has a grand total of six commitments.
Still, even with just six commitments, McGuire and the Red Raiders have the No. 4 ranked recruiting class in the country. At least that’s according to the folks over at On3 and Rivals, who placed the Red Raiders ahead of just about everybody in the nation.
There are just three teams that are currently ranked better than Texas Tech for the 2027 recruiting cycle. Sure, yeah, it’s early, but that’s a great spot to be in right now. Especially considering that prior to Wednesday, Texas Tech had the No. 19 ranking for its recruiting class.
And in case you were wondering, Texas Tech is keeping pretty good company (even with just six commitments so far). The Red Raiders are ranked ahead of the likes of the Georgia Bulldogs, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, USC Trojans, Oregon Ducks, and Texas Longhorns.
