With Sherrone Moore out as the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines following his firing (and a ton of accusations and allegations and rumors floating around), a lot of change is bound to take place in Ann Arbor.
And because the Wolverines are now in search of a new head coach to lead their program moving forward, that means there will be some player movement happening.
That sort of change doesn’t just impact the players who have been a part of the Michigan football program for a while now. It also impacts those who were committed and signed and wanted to play for the Wolverines but now might have a decent reason to look elsewhere for a new landing spot.
And even if you took the sort of circumstances that led to this coaching change out of the equation, just the simple fact that there is a coaching change is enough to make players want to consider moving on. And that’s exactly what Matt Ludwig, a four-star tight end, will be doing.
Ludwig was signed to play for the Wolverines, ended up being released from his signing, and is now committed to play for Joey McGuire and the Red Raiders.
Here’s how Michigan fans are handling that news.
Michigan football fans weigh in after 4-star tight end Matt Ludwig commits to the Texas Tech Red Raiders
It really seems like plenty of Michigan fans are understanding of why Ludwig would leave the Wolverines signing class. I mean, given the circumstances, how could you not be understanding of that sort of choice?
Good luck sir!

Can never blame a player for leaving after a coaching change. Hoping for nothing but good things for Matt 🙏🙏

Hated to lose him but best of luck to Moose at Texas Tech

I mean, for the most part, people seemed genuinely supportive of Ludwig’s choice here, which feels good to see.
Congrats! Wish we could have kept him, but he’ll do great things there. Great program with a great fan base!

Congrats man TTU is a great fit

That said, there were some folks who had a bit of, uh, feedback on the specific wording that Ludwig used.
“Cash money’s plan”
— Doak Walker (@Doak_Walker) December 12, 2025
Respect his decision, but I'm uncertain if "God's plan" applies here

And then there were some folks who were just, uh, well... Unhappy.
Selecting to attend college in Lubbock Texas not Ann Arbor tells me he has never been to the Texas Panhandle or South Plains. Absolutely desolate with no redeeming qualities (and I lived there for 40 years before escaping). Very tough duty. BTW TT is NOT a Blue Blood Program.

Didn't have the grades to get into Michigan

People have opinions and feelings and they're going to share both right now.
That said, ultimately, it doesn’t matter how Michigan fans (or Texas Tech fans or any other fans for that matter) feel about this one. Ludwig chose the Red Raiders in light of a very weird, bizarre, and tricky situation. There’s going to be a lot of change that happens in Ann Arbor in light of Moore’s firing. This is just one part of that.
