Texas Tech fans are, unfortunately, familiar with lopsided results and frustrating games that end in disaster for at least one team involved. To be completely honest, there have been plenty of instances of Texas Tech being on either side of that sort of situation. There have been plenty of lopsided wins in Texas Tech football history. And, yeah, a few lopsided losses here and there as well.

Right now, it sounds like Texas Tech is going to be a part of at least one game that has those sorts of vibes to it this coming season.

Thankfully, it doesn’t look like Texas Tech is going to be the team that is on the losing end of this one. That's because TTU gets to face off against a Kent State team that truly isn't all that great during week two of the season.

Texas Tech vs. Kent State in week 2 is ranked among the least watchable games in college football this season

Taking a look at Kelley Ford’s lovely lists and charts and rankings and number crunching that would hurt my head if I ever saw the raw data that was getting parsed through and it’s clear that Texas Tech has one of the least watchable games in the season per those numbers.

Here’s what the full list looks like (there are some really ugly, soon to be lopsided matchups on that list):

Texas Tech isn’t alone in facing Kent State in a game that is expected to get ugly in a hurry. Toledo, NIU, Florida State, Buffalo, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Ball State, Akron, and UMass are also all in the club as well.

What a weird club to be in, to be completely honest.

The Red Raiders getting Kent State that early provides Texas Tech with a golden opportunity to build some momentum in the first few weeks of the season, which is never a bad thing for a team with a ton of new players.

It’s honestly going to be a good thing for this particular edition of the Texas Tech Red Raiders to meet up with a team like Kent State at that part of the season. With all of the Transfer Portal additions to this roster, it should benefit Texas Tech to get some reps in against outmatched opponents early on.
