Man, this was such a good weekend for Texas Tech basketball. Both the men’s and the women’s basketball teams went out to difficult environments and beat ranked teams in thrilling fashion.

And while so many folks are going to be focused on college football at this time of year, it’s becoming more and more clear that the Texas Tech Red Raiders men’s basketball team and the Lady Raiders women’s basketball team absolutely deserve a ton of attention right now.

These wins were huge.

Texas Tech Lady Raiders upend the No. 15 Baylor Bears in Waco snapping a horrendous losing streak in the process

For the first time in 14 years, we finally get to talk about how the Texas Tech Lady Raiders women’s basketball team has found a way to get a win against the Baylor Bears. That’s so dang important for this program.

Texas Tech went on the road and shocked the Bears. That’s just not something that happens all that often! And it’s something we’ve got to talk about!

And you’ve got to check these highlights out.

Texas Tech is now at the top of the Big 12 with the win over the Bears, which is good! It’s early, yes, and that’s something that we’re going to need to account for, but the Lady Raiders are unbeaten at 14-0 and just snapped a 31-game losing streak against a team they just simply couldn’t beat. That’s something to celebrate and enjoy.

Oh, but this wasn’t the only great basketball win that Texas Tech got to enjoy over the weekend.

Texas Tech takes down the No. 3 Duke Blue Devils in stunning fashion in Madison Square Garden

Man, it was such a thrill seeing the Texas Tech Red Raiders go out and find a way to beat the Duke Blue Devils.

It wasn’t something that I think many people expected (especially when you factor in Texas Tech’s struggles against ranked teams) and it certainly wasn’t something I expected (especially when the Red Raiders were down 10 points at halftime and then 17 points in the second half).

But I’m glad I was wrong! I’m glad the Red Raiders were able to come back in such thrilling fashion and get a much needed win against one of the best teams in the country.

This could be such a fun season for both the men’s and women’s basketball teams. It’s certainly worth keeping an eye on (even with the Texas Tech Red Raiders football team continuing to thrive the way that it is).
