Texas Tech flew into Fayetteville, Arkansas cautiously optimistic; the Red Raiders were undefeated in non-conference play, and smelled blood in the water as Arkansas had struggled heavily up to that point in the season.

These were reasons for optimism, however on the flip side Texas Tech was very cautious in approaching the Arkansas matchup; the Razorbacks’ rushing attack dominated the Red Raiders a year prior in what was essentially a microcosm of the entire 2014 season.

However, you would have never known this with the level of play by Patrick Mahomes, and the overall execution by the entire Texas Tech team, coaches included. Kliff Kingsbury’s squad dictated the pace of the game from the start.

Arkansas’ much feared rushing attack never quite had the same impact it did from the last time the teams met. In a reversal of sorts, Texas Tech’s ability to move the ball on the ground helped pave the Red Raiders’ way to victory.
