While Texas Tech fans have generally grown used to getting good recruiting news lately, things have been a little turbulent for the folks in and around Lubbock over the past few days.

With the news of an NCAA investigation into Brendan Sorsby and the Red Raiders running into depth chart issues at quarterback (again), there’s plenty to be disappointed about for Texas Tech football fans.

That said, on Monday, Joey McGuire and the Red Raiders got a good bit of good news that seems to be helping lift some spirits as they picked up a commitment from a four-star running back in SaRod Baker.

Baker is actually the first running back in the recruiting class for the Red Raiders and he continues to help Texas Tech build a talent pipeline in DeSoto. Texas Tech fans should be thrilled about this (and it seems like they genuinely are).

Here’s what Texas Tech fans (and some commits) had to say about Baker choosing to commit to the Red Raiders:

The Red Raiders are having a ton of success on the recruiting trail right now and these guys are pretty familiar with that momentum that Texas Tech is experiencing.

On the recruiting trail, there's a lot that's going right for Texas Tech football right now.

And that momentum should be celebrated. The Red Raiders are getting some pretty significant recruiting wins. This shouldn’t be lost on anyone or overlooked in any way. It shouldn’t be taken for granted. Celebrate it. Enjoy it.

The news centered around Sorsby is going to take a lot of attention and it’s going to be exhausting. It’s going to dominate headlines for understandable reasons. But the Red Raiders are moving in the right direction right now and there’s a lot to be proud of with that.
