Sherrone Moore is out at Michigan. So, why should Texas Tech fans care? Take the very bizarre and concerning surrounding factors that led to the firing out of the equation for a moment and let’s just focus on the firing all on its own for a brief moment.
A coaching change in the Big Ten doesn’t generally impact the Texas Tech Red Raiders in significant ways.
This time, however, it does. And the firing is actually benefitting the Texas Tech football team. Largely because there’s a tight end recruit that the Red Raiders wanted to pick up in this class that Michigan actually managed to end up with.
But, with Moore being fired, that gave Texas Tech a great chance to go out and pick up Matt Ludwig, who signed with Michigan but was ultimately released from his commitment there given the coaching change happening in Ann Arbor.
Texas Tech football fans react as the Red Raiders pick up 4-star tight end Matt Ludwig following Sherrone Moore’s firing at Michigan
I’m sure everyone on the internet is going to be shocked when I tell them that Ludwig flipping from Michigan to Texas Tech is something that excited a number of Texas Tech fans.

With all of the momentum that Texas Tech has right now (both with what’s happening on the field in terms of making the College Football Playoff and with winning the Big 12 in convincing fashion and then also now this impressive recruiting class), it’s definitely fair for folks to be excited about the future that the Red Raiders could have.
There’s a ton of potential for success in Lubbock and this is just another great example of that.
its a new era of college football, and texas tech is the new blood leading the way

This is just such an exciting time for Texas Tech football fans. Truly, it is. The Red Raiders seem built for this particular era of college athletics where a coaching change will lead to players being able to move on in search of a new home. And that’s where Joey McGuire and the Red Raiders are able to step in.
