I, for one, think it’s great that the Texas Tech Red Raiders were able to go in and beat the UCLA Bruins in Game 8 of the 2025 Women’s College World Series. I know there are a ton of Texas Tech fans who would agree with me. There might be some folks who actively dislike the UCLA Bruins who might also agree with me.
I also know that UCLA softball fans absolutely will not agree with me. To that group, I would like to say that there is no need to fret just yet. The Bruins aren’t done at the moment. They’re still alive. This season isn’t over.
But UCLA is definitely facing elimination. That is certainly true. Because of the loss to NiJaree Canady and the Texas Tech softball team, the UCLA Bruins are now in a position to be sent home from Oklahoma City a good bit sooner than they probably were hoping for. That is possible right now. It’s not for certain, but it is a possibility.
As UCLA moves forward following that loss, let’s take a look at what’s next for the Bruins as they try to respond.
UCLA softball schedule: What’s next for the Bruins after losing to the Texas Tech Red Raiders?
This is a bit of a good news/bad news sort of scenario. Because while there is a little bit of good news in that UCLA gets a chance at redemption, the bad news is that the Bruins will get the unique and distinct pleasure of being paired up with the Tennessee Lady Vols in Game 9 of the 2025 Women’s College World Series.
What’s the deal with that?
Well… Tennessee just got a day’s rest. There is that. There’s also the fact that, following the Lady Volunteers’ loss to the Oklahoma Sooners in Game 2, Tennessee went nuclear on Florida and run ruled the Gators.
It sure looks like Tennessee is just a little motivated right now. Maybe that won’t be a problem for UCLA. Maybe it will. We’ll find out soon enough. The Bruins and the Lady Vols will meet up on Sunday at 2 p.m. Central Time. The game will be broadcast on ABC.
