For one reason or another, the Texas Tech Red Raiders have never been able to beat the Arizona State Sun Devils on the road. It just hasn’t ever happened. I mean, we’re talking about a series that dates back nearly 90 years. And not one single road win over the Sun Devils for Texas Tech! You’d think there’d be at least one win in an away game, right?

Well, to be completely fair and transparent and all that sort of good stuff, the Red Raiders are dealing with an incredibly small sample size here. Yeah, sure, there’s that whole “this series has been going on for over 80 years” sort of thing that we can talk about, but these two teams have only met up on six different occasions.

And we’ve only ever seen two road games for Texas Tech here.

2025 Texas Tech football schedule: When will the Red Raiders face the Arizona State Sun Devils?

Just two road games! Small sample size! And that small sample size of away games in Tempe, Arizona for Texas Tech will grow by 50 percent this season as the Red Raiders will get their third road game ever in this series.

And, well, theoretically speaking, that should give Texas Tech a chance to build on its current winning streak over Arizona State that is *checks notes* exactly two games long.

Yeah, there’s just not much history happening between the Red Raiders and the Sun Devils. But, on October 18, 2025, we’ll see these two teams meet up for the seventh time ever in the nearly 88 years that this series has existed.

Maybe we’ll see Texas Tech get a road win over the Sun Devils for the first time ever? Maybe we’ll see Texas Tech’s win streak over Arizona State stretch out to three games? Maybe we’ll see hometown dominance continue as a trend in this series?
