Saturday is going to be a fascinating day for the Texas Tech Red Raiders for a couple of different reasons. One, the Red Raiders men’s basketball team is down in Orlando, Florida and prepared to play against the UCF Knights.

Two, a handful of some of the best Texas Tech football players from this past season are in Mobile, Alabama to compete and try to get even more NFL Draft attention than they have already so that they can potentially get a better spot in the NFL Draft.

Let’s chat a bit about those stories today.

Five former Texas Tech stars set to represent the Red Raiders during the 2026 Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama

There aren’t many teams that get the chance to send five players to go partake in the Senior Bowl. This year, the Texas Tech Red Raiders were among five teams that got to send five or more players. That feels like a pretty elusive club, if you ask me.

In this case, I think it’s a good thing, especially for Texas Tech. Getting five former Red Raiders to the Senior Bowl gives the coaching staff more to point to in order for players to be interested about playing college football in Lubbock. And that’s not a bad thing to have.

Here are the five Red Raiders who are set to go compete in the 2026 Senior Bowl:

Texas Tech Red Raiders men’s basketball team is aiming to extend its winning streak when facing the UCF Knights

Look, I don’t know how to say this in any way other than this at this specific moment, but Texas Tech truly can’t afford to overlook what the UCF Knights are doing. Yes, I get it, Grant McCasland’s Red Raiders are near the top of the Big 12 standings and need to keep winning to keep pace with the Arizona Wildcats, who are at the actual top.

But the Red Raiders have looked really solid this season (especially as of late) and have shown the sort of potential necessary to win at a high level down the stretch of this season. The Knights have been productive and could be a problem. We’ll see if Texas Tech can keep its winning streak rolling.
