With just one more regular season series to play for the Big 12, the Texas Tech Red Raiders softball team sits at the top of basically every single stat record. All across the leaderboards, the Red Raiders are putting their names collectively at the top.Â
And in many of those categories, there’s a pretty significant gap between Texas Tech and the next best team in the conference. From batting average to runs scored to hits to home runs to RBI to total bases. Texas Tech is at the top.
Go ahead and throw walks, stolen bases, triples, and the fewest strikeouts on that list as well. In essentially every stat category, the Red Raiders are the best. And it shows in Texas Tech’s record. The Red Raiders are 48-4 overall and 19-2 in Big 12 play.Â
The Texas Tech Red Raiders are better than basically everyone else in the Big 12 at just about every stat category
Let’s examine some of those numbers:
- Batting average: .390 (next closest is Arizona at .355)
- Runs scored: 508 (next closest is Arizona State at 365)
- Hits: 513 (next closest is Iowa State at 446)
- Home runs: 113 (next closest is Arizona State at 82)

And then there’s the fact that Texas Tech has a .390 batting average with just 123 strikeouts. The Red Raiders are functionally always putting the ball in play while at the plate.Â
There’s no single way to slow this Texas Tech team down. You can’t easily neutralize this lineup. There’s consistent contact, power, and the ability to get on base via walks seemingly whenever.
